Good Afternoon!
Wow, it's been quite some time since I last posted on here. Since job applications have taken a priority, the blog has been sitting on the back burner. I just wanted to come on here and give you guys a quick update on where I've been and what is happening.
Firstly, Covid 19 is a thing now. I am in self-isolation as I live with my old grandmother and both of my parents have asthma. It is quite isolating to be indoors all day but you get used to it and find new ways to entertain you and pass the time. Since I am somewhat introverted, I do enjoy the quiet isolation from the busy world but even I am finding the quiet a little hard to handle. I am still unemployed so I am using this time to improve my CV and cover letters. I am also working on my fitness which bizarrely is helping me find this whole experience more tolerable.
I also spent the last couple of days learning about dissociative identity disorder (DID). Anthony Padilla did an interview with people with DID and this introduced me to this area of mental health that I was not that aware of. My only awareness of the disorder was the films Split and Glass which doesn't exactly present the illness in the best or appropriate light. Through Anthony's video, I was introduced to DissociaDID system who creates informative and educational videos about the different aspect of having DID and how it impacts their life. Their videos have really educated me about why they have DID and how they have moved forwards with the disorder. They are also so wonderful. Their empathy is contagious.
This is a difficult time for all of us so just do anything that will make you happy. Whether it is to take a bath or read a book: just do things that will positively impact your mood during this time. It will be a hard couple of months. Take the preventative measures advised by health professionals and the governments and be empathetic towards the people around you. Do not panic because a lot of news outlets are using this opportunity to write articles that have no factual basis. Make sure that the information you are getting is from appropriate sources. I recommend the WHO website and the NHS website if you live in England.
I hope you are all doing well. I will see you in my next post which will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks.
Sincerely Sinthu
